Daleels About Tarbeeyah in Sunnah and Method of Change in Weakness
i)
“Read in the Name of your Sustainer, who has created
Created man from a clot
Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One
Who has taught by the pen
Taught man what he knew not”(al A’laq 96:1-5)
- iThe Necessary means to establish a duty is itself a duty “O ye who believe! Do your duty to Allah, seek the means of approach unto Him, and strive with might and main in his cause: that ye may prosper.” (al Maai’dah 5:35) i.e. Implement Shari’ah and Change foundations and Structuire of Society
- “Verily in the messenger of Allah you have the best example for him who hopes for Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.” (al Ahzaab 33:21) - Example of Nabi (saw) and Sahaabah in Dar al Arqaam
- “Allah has promised those among you who believe and do righteous actions, that He will certainly grant them succession in the earth (layastakhlifannahum fil Ard) as He granted succession (istikhlaaf) to those before them and that he will grant them the power to their deen (wa layumakkinanna lahum deenahum) , that which He has chosen for them. And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (wa layubaddilannahum min ba’di khawfihim amnaan), they worship Me and do not associate anything with Me. But whoever disbelieved after this they are the faasiqoon.” (an Noor 24:55) A’milus Saalihaat needs I’lm Allah (swt) says “We send not the messengers except as bearers of good news and warners. Whoso believes and acts rightly, there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.” (al Ana’m 6:48) and “Except those who believe and do good works, and theirs is a reward unfailing.” (at Teen 95:6) and “…that He may reward those who believe and do good works with equity…” (Yoonus 10:4)
- Commanding Ma’roof and Forbidding Munkar needs I’lm
- Messenger sent for teaching Tazkeeyah – Hikmah - Book “Our Lord! And raise up in their midst a messenger from among them who shall recite unto them Thy revelations, and shall instruct them in the Scripture and in wisdom and shall make them grow. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Mighty, Wise.” (al Baqarah 2:129) and “Even as We have sent unto you a messenger from among you, who reciteth unto you Our revelations and causeth you to grow, and teacheth you the Scripture and wisdom, and teacheth you that which ye knew not.'” (al Baqarah 2:151) and “Allah verily hath shown grace to the believers by sending unto them a messenger of their own who reciteth unto them His revelations, and causeth them to grow, and teacheth them the Scripture and wisdom; although before (he came to them ) they were in flagrant error.” (aali I’mraan 3:164) and “He it is Who hath sent among the unlettered ones a messenger of their own, to recite unto them His revelations and to make them grow, and to teach them the Scripture and Wisdom, though heretofore they were indeed in error manifest,” (al Jumua’h 62:2)
- Prophet (saw) sent as teacher and to make clear “(We sent them) with Clear Signs and Books of dark prophecies; and We have sent down unto thee (also) the Message; that thou mayest explain clearly to men what is sent for them, and that they may give thought. [yatafakkaroona]”(an Nahl 16:44) and A’bdullah ibn A’mru reported that Rasool Allah (saw) happened to pass by two groups[majlisayn] (of Muslims) in the mosque and he said: “Both of them are good, but one is superior to the other. One group is supplicating Allah and praising Him. If He so wills He will confer upon them and if He so wills He will withhold. So far as those who are acquiring the understanding of the deen and its knowledge and are busy in teaching the ignorant, they are superior. Verily I have been sent as a teacher[mua’lliman].” He then sat down amongst them. (DAARIMI, TIRMIDHI [no.257] IBN MAAJAH [vol.1 no.229] according to HAYTHAMI in Majmu’az Zawaai’d its isnaad is daa’eef as three of its narrators Dawood, Bakr and A’bdur Rahmaan are all weak, WALI UD DEEN TABREEZI in ‘Mishkaatul Masaabih’ [eng/arabic vol.1 p.357])
- Importance of I’lm in Makkan Period Concerning its Consequences, the one who worships without knowledge not like the one who does not, this is true in all spheres as the hadeeth says Muadh ibn Jabal “…action is slave to knowledge and i’lm is the Imaam of action” (IBN ABDUL BARR and others) and Ibn A’bbaas reports Nabi (saw) “One faqeeh is stronger against shaytaan than one thousand people of i’baadah” (TIRMIDHI, IBN MAAJAH) and A’bdullah ibn A’mr reported that nabi (saw) said “Verily, Allah will not destroy knowledge by snatching it away from his slaves but he will destroy knowledge by taking away the lives of the u’lemah until there will not even remain a single a’lim, people will then take the illiterate as leaders. They will be questioned and they will give fataawa without knowledge. They will go astray and will lead others astray.” (BUKHAARI, MUSLIM) and Ibn A’bbaas reports Nabi (saw) “There are two classes of my people when they are good my people are good and when they are bad the people are bad, the umaraa’ and the fuqahaa” (ABU NA’EEM) “And so amongst men and crawling creatures and cattle, are they of various colours. Those truly fear Allah, among His Servants, who have knowledge: for Allah is Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving.”(Faatir 35:28) and “Is one who worships devoutly during the hour of the night prostrating himself or standing (in adoration), who takes heed of the Hereafter, and who places his hope in the Mercy of his Lord - (like one who does not)? Say: "Are those equal, those who know and those who do not know? It is those who are endued with understanding that receive admonition.”(az Zumar 39:9)
- Da’wah with Baseerah – “Say thou: ‘This is my way: I do invite unto Allah,- on evidence clear as the seeing with one's eyes,- I and whoever follows me. Glory to Allah. and never will I join gods with Allah.’” (Yoosuf 12:108)

Chapter 1 Da’wah must be based upon I’lm
“Say thou: ‘This is my way: I do invite unto Allah,- on evidence clear as the seeing with one's eyes,- I and whoever follows me. Glory to Allah. and never will I join gods with Allah.’” (Yoosuf 12:108)
“Call to the way of your Lord with hikmah and the magnetizing speech [mawi’Zatul hasanah] and argue with them in ways that are best for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance.” (an Nahl 16:125)
Chapter 2 Da’wah must follow Sharia’h Ahkaam, Minhaaj and Qawaai’d
“So unto this then call and go straight [i.e. cling to shari’ah] as you are commanded and follow not their desires but say ‘I believe in whatsoever Allah has sent down of the Book and I am commanded to do justice among you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord…” (ash Shoora 42:15)
Chapter 3 Maximise Efforts for Da’wah (Obligation upon Istitaa’ah)
A’bdullah ibn A’mru reported that Nabi (saw) said “Convey on behalf of me even an ayah and narrate from the Bani Israa’eel and there is no harm. And whoever lies aboput me intentionally let him seek his abode in the Fire” (BUKHAARI) and Abu Hurayrah reported that Rasool Allah (saw) said “If I command you to do something then do as much as you are able…” (BUKHAARI, MUSLIM)
Chapter 4 Da’wah to the System
"Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion to His slave that he may be a warner to the a'lameen" (al Furqaan 25:1)
“O Messenger! Convey that which has been sent down to you from your Lord. And if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. Allah will protect you from mankind. Verily, Allah guides not people who disbelieve” (al Maai’dah 5:67)
“And let there be among you an ummah inviting to al Khayr and commanding the ma’roof and forbidding the munkar, those will be the successful.” (aali I’mraan 3:104)
"He it is who sent His messenger with guidance and the deen of truth to make it prevail over all the deens even if the mushrikoon detest it" (at Tawbah 9:33)
Chapter 5 The Da’wah is to All
“Say: "O men! I am sent unto you all, as the Messenger of Allah, to Whom belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth: there is no god but He: it is He That giveth both life and death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the Unlettered Prophet, who believeth in Allah and His words: follow him that (so) ye may be guided." (al A’raaf 7:158)
“And We have not sent you except to all [kaaffatan] of mankind as a basheeran and nadheeramn but most men know not.” (Sabaa 34:28)
"O mankind! Verily there has come to you a convincing proof from your Lord and We sent down to you a manifest light" (an Nisaa'4:174)
“And We have not sent you except as amercy for the a’lameen.” (al Anbiyaa’ 21:107)
Chapter 6 Obligation of Public Da’wah
The Da’wah must be public as it:-
- Can reach the masses efficiently
- Challenges the systems and leadership in society
- Effects the people in a collective way so as to effect public opinion
“O you Mudathir! Arise and warn.” (al Mudathir 74:1-2)
“Those were the cities whose narrative We relate to you. And there came indeed to them their messengers with bayyinaat but they were not such as to believe in that which they had rejected before. Thus Allah does seal up the hearts of the kaafireen.” (al A’raaf 7:101)
"And behold I called unto them openly, and, behold I preached to them in public, and I spoke to them secretly, in private” (Nooh 71:8-9)
“And never did thy Lord destroy the townships, till He had raised up in their mother(town) a messenger reciting unto them Our revelations. And never did We destroy the townships unless the folk thereof were evil-doers.” (al Qassas 28:59)
“Therefore proclaim openly that which you are commanded and turn away from the mushrikeen.” (al Hijr 15:94) This ayah also shows Baraa’ as part of the method of da’wah and changing society.
“Say: "What thing is most weighty in evidence?" Say: "(Allah) is witness between me and you; This Qur'an hath been revealed to me by inspiration, that I may warn you and all whom it reaches. Can ye possibly bear witness that besides Allah there is another Allah." Say: "Nay! I cannot bear witness!" Say: "But in truth He is the one Allah, and I truly am innocent of (your blasphemy of) joining others with Him." (al Ana’m 6:19)
“And this is a Book which We have sent down, bringing blessings, and confirming (the revelations) which came before it: that thou mayest warn the mother of cities and all around her. Those who believe in the hereafter believe in this (Book), and they are constant in guarding their prayers.” (al Ana’m 6:92)
“Thus have We sent by inspiration to thee an Arabic Qur'an: that thou mayest warn the Mother of Cities and all around her,- and warn (them) of the Day of Assembly, of which there is no doubt: (when) some will be in the Garden, and some in the Blazing Fire.” (ash Shoora 42:7)
Chapter 7 Obligation of Clarity [Tabyeen] in the Da’wah and not Confusion [Talbees]
The Following must all be clear Problem – Solution - Action
“He (Nooh) said ‘O my people! Verily I am a clear warner to you [nadheerun Mubeen], That you should worship Allah, have taqwa of Him and obey me [ateeoo’ni]’” (Nooh 71:2) This makes clear not only the da’wah must be open and clear but also that it is comprehensive and includes the whole leadership and obedience to the whole shari’ah. Obeying Nooh (as) includes his organizational commands and what he conveys of sharia’h.
“Do they not reflect? Their companion is not seized with madness: he is but a clear warner.” (al A’raaf 7:184)
“Say: "O men! I am (sent) to you only as a clear warner” (al Hajj 22:49)
“Say: "I am no bringer of a bid’a among the apostles, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I follow but that which is revealed to me by inspiration; I am but a clear warner”(Al Ahqaaf 46:9)
“(And remember) when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the Book to make it clear to mankind and not to hide it but they threw it away behind their backs and purchased with it some miserable gain. And indeed worst is that which they bought” (aali I’mraan 3:187)
“Verily, those who conceal the clear proofs and the guidance which We have sent down after We have made it clear for the people in the Book, they are the ones cursed by Allah and cursed by the cursers.” (al Baqarah 2:159)
“Confound not truth with falsehood, nor knowingly conceal the truth. “ (al Baqarah 2:42)
“O People of the Scripture! Why do you mix the truth with falsehood and knowingly conceal the truth?” (aali I’mraan 3:71)
Abu Hurayrah reported that Nabi (saw) said “He who is asked about knowledge and conceals it will be bridled on the Day of Judgement with a bridle of Fire.” (ABU DAWOOD [no.3650] AHMAD, TIRMIDHI and IBN MAAJAH from Anaas)
"Verily, We have sent down to you the Book as a clarification for all matters, a guidance, a mercy and good news for muslims.” (an Nahl 16:89)
"And certainly, We have brought to them a Book, which We have explained in detail, upon knowledge as a guidance and a mercy to people who believe" (al A'raaf 7:52)
"And We have not sent down the Book to you except that you may explain clearly unto them those things in which they differ and a guidance and mercy to a people who believe" (an Nahl 16:64)
Chapter 8 Urgency in the Da’wah
“Verily, We sent Nooh to his people (saying to him) ‘Warn your people before their comes to them a painful torment’” (Nooh 71:1)
“Hasten ye then (at once) to Allah. I am from Him a clear warner to you” (adh Dhariyaat 51:50)
“And there came running from the farthest part of the town a man saying ‘O my people! Follow the messengers. Follow those who ask no wages of you and who are rightly guided” (Ya Seen 36:20-21)
Nooh (as) said “He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew.” (Nooh 71:4)
“And when an ummah among them said ‘Why do you preach [tai’Zoona] whom Allah is about to destroy or to punish with a severe torment?’ (The preachers) said ‘In order to be free from guilt and that they may have taqwa.’ When they disregarded the warnings [dhukkiroo] that had been sent to them we rescued those who forbade evil [soo’], but we seized those who did wrong with a severe torment because they used to rebel.” (al A’raaf 7:164-165)
Abu Hurayrah reports Nabi (saw) “Learn the faraa’id and the Quran and teach the people for I am a mortal [maqboodh]” (TIRMIDHI mishkaat vol.1 p353)
Chapter 9 Da’wah by example of the individual
“You command people to good yet forget it yourselves while you recite the Book. Have you no intellect?” (al Baqarah 2:44)
“O you who believe! Why do say that which you do not do? Most hateful it is in he sight of Allah that you say that which you do not do” (as Saff 61:2-3)
Allah (swt) mentions the words of the Prophet Shua’yb “I wish not in opposition to you, to do that which I forbid you to do. I only desire reform to the best of my ability.” (Hud 11:88)
“The one who acquires knowledge but does not act upon it, has acquired it only to increase in pride” (TIRMIDHI, DHAHABI in ‘al Kabaai’r’ [p.158])
Chapter 10 Da’wah by the example of the system
“We have not sent down the Qura’n unto you to cause you distress, But only as a tadhkirah [reminder] to those who fear, a Tanzeel [revelation] from Him Who has created the earth and the High Heavens.” (Ta-Ha 20:2-4)
“So obey not the disbelievers, but strive against them with it with a great striving.” (al Furqaan 25:52)
"The month of Ramadaan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion..." (al Baqarah 2:185)
“…it is He who named you Muslims both before and in this, that the messenger may be a witness over you and you be a witness over mankind…” (al Hajj 22:78)
“Thus, have We made of you an Ummat justly balanced, that ye might be witnesses over the nations, and the Messenger a witness over yourselves…” (al Baqarah 2:143)
Chapter 11 Tarheeb concerns this life as well as the next life
“If only there had been among the generations before you, persons having wisdom prohibiting from al fasaad in the earth, except a few of those whom We saved from among them. Those who did wrong [zalamoo] persued the enjoyment of this life and were mujrimoon. And your Lord would never destroy the towns wrongfully while their people were righteous reformers [muslihoon].” (Hood 11:116-115)
“And never yet have We sent a prophet unto any community without trying its people with misfortune and hardship, so that they might humble themselves” (al A’raaf 7:94)
“Then We transformed the affliction into ease of life, so that they throve and said [to themselves], "Misfortune and hardship befell our forefathers as well -whereupon We took them to task, all of a sudden, without their being aware [of what was coming].” (al A’raaf 7:95)
“Can, then, the people of any city ever feel secure that Our punishment will not come upon them by night, while they are asleep?” (al A’raaf 7:97)
“Why, can the people of any city ever feel secure that Our punishment will not come upon them in broad daylight, while they are engaged in (worldly] play?” (al A’raaf 7:98)
“Did they then feel secure against the Plan of Allah? None feels secure from the Plan of Allah except the khaasiroon.” (al A’raaf 7:99)
U’baydullah in Jareer reports from his father that Nabi (saw) “There is no people among whom sins are committed and they have more power and strength than them and do not make change except that Allah gives them all punishment.” (IBN MAAJAH)
Jaabir bin A’bdullah reports Nabi (saw) “If any man is among people in whose midst he does acts of disobedience and though they are able to make him change they do not change, Allah will smite them with His punishment before they die.” (ABU DAWOOD)
Aisha reports Nabi (saw) “Command ma’roof and forbid munkar before you make dua and it is not granted.” (IBN MAAJAH)
Qays narrated that Abu Bakr as Siddiq said during a khutbah ‘You have read this verse “O you who believe! Guard your own souls, if you follow the right guidance (which includes commanding ma’roof and forbidding munkar), no harm can come to you from those who stray” (al Maai’dah 5:105) I heard Nabi (saw) say “When people see an oppressor but do not stop him or overwhelm him, it is nearer that Allah will overtake them all with His punishment.” (ABU DAWOOD, TIRMIDHI, MAALIK, AHMAD, IBN HIBBAAN)
“And fear the fitnah which affects not in particular those who do wrong and know that Allah is severe in punishment.” (al Anfaal 8:25)
Zaynab, Ummul Mu’mineen said ‘The Prophet (saw) once awoke and his face was dark and he said three times “Laa ilaaha ill Allah, Woe to the Arabs because of an evil which will soon come. Today the barrier of Jooj and Ma’jooj has been breached by so much…” and he made a circle with his thumb and forefinger.’ And Zaynab remarked ‘O Rasool Allah, even when the righteous still dwell among us?’ And he (saw) said “Yes when corruption [khubth] becomes widespread” (BUKHAARI, MUSLIM)
Hudhayfah reported that Nabi (saw) said “By Him in whose Hand is my life, you must command ma’roof and forbid munkar otherwise it is near that Allah will send punishment on you from Himself. You will then call Him but you will not be responded to.” (TIRMIDHI)
Chapter 12 Targheeb concerns this life as well as the next life
The words of Nooh (as) “…and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters.” (Nooh 71:10-12)

“That is so because Allah will never change a people until they change what is within their ownselves. And verily Allah is Sami’un A’leem.” (al Anfaal 8:53)
“…Verily, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves. But when Allah Wills a people’s punishment, there can be no turning back of it and they will find besides Him no protector.” (ar Ra’d 13:11)
Chapter 13 Tawheed – Only Allah Guides Guiding
“Verily, thou canst not guide aright everyone whom thou lovest: but it is God who guides him that wills [to be guided]; and He is fully aware of all who would let themselves be guided.” (al Qassas 28:56)
Wealth can not buy guidance or unity, only Allah guides “And He has united their hearts. If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have united their hearts, but Allah has united them. Verily He is A’zeezun Hakeem.” (al Anfaal 8:63)
“If you (Muhammad) covet for their guidance then verily Allah guides not those whom He makes to go astray. And they will have no helpers.” (an Nahl 16:37)
“Not alike are the blind and the seeing. Nor are darkness and the light. Nor are the shade and the haroor [sun’s rays]. Nor are the living and the dead. Verily Allah makes whom He Wills to hear but you can not make to hear those who are in the graves. You (Muhammad) are only a warner [nadheer]. Verily! We have sent you with the truth, a basheeran [bringer of good news] and a nadheeran [warner]. And there never was an ummah but a warner had passed among them.” (Faatir 35:22-24)
Motivation about the rejectors [mukhadhibeen] “And if they reject you [yukadhibooka], those before them also rejected [kadhdhaba]. Their messengers came to them with bayyinaat [clear signs] and with the zubur [Scriptures] and a Book giving light [Kitaabil Muneer]. Then I took hold of those who disbelieved and how terrible was My denial [nakeer].” (Faatir 35:25-26)
“If their aversion is hard on you then if you were able to seek a tunnel in the ground or a ladder in the sky so that you may bring them a sign. And had Allah willed, He could have gathered them together unto guidance so be not from the jaahileen.” (al Ana’m 6:35)
“[And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee].” (Nooh 71:5-6)
Chapter 14– Targetting the Leaders and People of Influence
The du’a of Nabi (saw) for Hamza and U’mar
The approach of tribes by Nabi (saw)
Allah (swt) says “Go to Fira’wn! Verily, he has gone beyond bounds [taghaa]” (Ta-Ha 20:24) and “Go to Fira’wn, verily, he has gone beyond bounds [taghaa]” (Naziat 79:17) and “Go both of you to Fira’wn verily, he has gone beyond bounds [taghaa].” (Ta-Ha 20:43)
A’bdullah ibn A’mru ibn al A’ss reported that Nabi (saw) said “If you see my ummah fearing a tyrant so much that they dare not tell him that he is a tyrant, then there will be no hope for them. Among my ummah some will be swallowed up by the earth, some bombarded with stones and some transformed into animals” (AHMAD [2/163])
Abu Sa’eed al Khudri, Abu Umaamah and Taariq ibn Shihaab all narrated Nabi (saw) said “The best jihad is the word of truth in the presence of a sultaanin jaa’ir” (AHMAD, IBN MAAJAH, NASAA’I, ABU DAWOOD)
"The prince of martyrs is Hamza ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib, and he who stands up to a tyrannical Ruler, to enjoin him to do good and forbid him to do wrong, so he (the tyrannical Ruler) kills him" (TIRMIDHI, HAAKIM)
“Have you observed him who belies his deen? That is he who repels the orphan. An urges not the feeding of the needy.” (al Ma’oon 107: 1-3) Muqaatil and al Kalbi have mentioned this referred to al Aa’s and Waai’l ash Shaami and Ibn Juraij mentioned was about Abu Sufyaan who repelled an orphan asking while he was slaughtering two lambs.
